For most Millennials, especially those born in the early 90s, the 2000s feel uncomfortable. It was a time that shaped many ’90s kids. Pop culture became famous with the advancement of the Internet. Entertainment is available to almost everyone at the touch of a button. That was also the birth of a reality TV star. A lot of crazy trends and things that are no longer used anymore appeared during this period. Nostalgia for the 2000s is still vivid today.

The early 2000s gave us CDs, DVDs, Paris Hilton, Limewire, Gathering magicand iPod, just to name a few. It was a time like no other. Kids today with TikTok and streaming services will never understand what it’s like to wait hours for a song to download.

1. Polly bag

Although these children’s dolls are still in circulation, it wasn’t until the early 2000s that they really made their mark on American children. What makes Polly Pocket stand out is that these dolls are super small and can fit in your pocket. A larger model was later introduced (and still exists) called Polly Fashion, which featured rubber clothing that could be exchanged between dolls. Like most properties in the early ’00s, Polly Pocket also had its own TV series and three animated movies.

2. Burn CD

Before Spotify and Apple Music, people listened to music through CDs. These circular discs were played on stereo systems and CD players and were the equivalent of listing music on your phone in the 00s. One of the great things about CDs was the ability to ‘burn’ playlists. your own music book. Once you download the songs to your computer, you can put them on a CD in any order you want. Anyone remember the VHS tapes? Before using a streaming service, you actually had to go to places called video stores and rent movies and TV shows. Out of all the video store chains, Blockbuster is the best known. Sure to evoke a sense of nostalgia, Blockbuster stores are available worldwide. At its peak in 2004, there were 9,094 stores globally. Unfortunately, technology caught up and video stores quickly became obsolete, leaving only one Blockbuster in Bend, Oregon.

7. Crazy Frog

Why this is is anyone’s guess, but Crazy Frog hit the Billboard charts in the early 2000s. The cartoon frog went viral across Europe, Australia and New Zealand with covers of Axis Fthe main song of the hit movie Beverly Hills Police. The song is terrible, but if you really need a reminder, you can listen to it here.

Crazy Frog subsequently released an album and several other singles that charted highly overseas. While the hype quickly died down, Crazy Frog is still out there getting it done, releasing an album in 2021 that proves not all nostalgia is good.

Originally released on the Disney Channel, Music High School was a huge hit in 2006. A modern musical for the younger generation, the original spawned two sequels and several spin-offs. It also launched the careers of Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale.

Although her career has been plagued with controversy, she remains an icon and is loved by many millennials.

The most realistic skating game to date, it featured real-life professional skaters including Hawk, Chad Muska, Bob Burnquist and Elissa Steamer. Not only that, the graphics are amazing, the skating scenes are realistic and the soundtrack is impressive.

Before phone companies realized it was possible to make phones without a separate keyboard, here were what people used. Motorola was one of the biggest proponents of flip phones before Apple came along and changed the game with the iPhone.

She has released several more solo albums, participating in Voiceand married Blake Shelton after her marriage to Bush’s Gavin Rossdale ended.

Remember how we mentioned things called CDs earlier? Well, Discman is what you’ve heard of them. Millennials will be all too familiar with Discman.
