After the success of Blade Runner 2049The much-loved sci-fi work is being adapted into an animated series. Sword runner-up: Black lotus is a 13-episode anime series set in the Sword runner-up world and focuses on a clone named Ellie.
Set in the year 2032, midway through the original Blade Runner In the 2009 timeline and the sequel’s 2049 setting, Ellie, codenamed “Black Lotus”, has escaped her master and is on the run from the authorities. As the series progresses, Ellie tries to discover who she really is and uncovers a plot that could change everything she thought she knew about herself.
A co-production between Crunchyroll and Adult Swim, Black lotus There will be both Japanese and English voiceovers. The Japanese cast includes the likes of Arisa Shida, Takako Hinda and Takehito Koyasu, while the American voice actors feature some big names, including Jessica Henwick (as Ellie), Brian Cox , Will Yun Lee, Samira Wiley and Josh Duhamel.
The film will be directed by Shinji Arakmaki and Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2045 ) and will be produced by Shinichirō Watanabe, Alcon Entertainment and animation studio Sola Digital Arts.
Blade Runner: Black Lotus will appear on Adult Swim in the fall.
