A former Reddit employee has filed a lawsuit against the company after they allegedly fired her for poor performance the day she returned from medical leave.
Over the years, Reddit has become one of the most popular social platforms with over 1.5 billion monthly active users.
However, subreddits on the platform were recently grouped together in protest after the company revealed a massive price increase on its API that caused most third-party apps to shut down.
Reddit was once again in trouble when a former employee filed a lawsuit against the company after she was allegedly fired for lackluster performance the day she returned from medical leave.
Reddit encounters lawsuits from ex-employees
As reported by The San Francisco Standard, former Reddit accountant Jamie Lee filed a lawsuit against the internet company on August 28, 2023.
In the lawsuit, Jamie said that when she told her supervisor Sung Hwang about taking medical leave, her boss refused and complained about Lee missing a meeting in Los Angeles and the company. Ty will make “important decisions” while she is gone.
Lee claims that after returning from leave on November 18, 2022, she was fired by her boss for “poor work” that same day.
The complaint also mentions that Hwang gave Lee a very good assessment of Lee’s performance and even offered Jamie the highest salary a month earlier.
In total, Jamie Lee listed nine complaints against Reddit, including multiple ADA and FMLA issues as well as defamation.
