Jaczek ran for the Libertarian Party in Oak Ridges in 2003. Tax rates and health care were among the topics discussed. She was defeated by incumbent Frank Klees by 2,521 votes. In 2007, Jaczek defeated Conservative candidate Phil Bannon and New Democrat Janice Hagan by 7,013 votes in the newly created Oak Ridges—Markham riding.
