RUSSELL Brand’s pregnant wife Laura Gallacher is reportedly standing by him amid allegations of rape and sexual assault.

The comedian, 48, was accused of crimes by four women this weekend, and several victims reportedly came forward with new accusations.

The BBC and Channel 4 have now launched an urgent investigation into the allegations and the Met Police are urging any further potential victims to come forward.

Brand vehemently denied the claims in a YouTube clip before it was published.

And now a friend of wife Laura, 36, who deleted her Instagram before the allegations came to light, has claimed she will be by his side.

A friend told MailOnline: “What Russell did was firmly in the past, long before he and Laura met.

“Of course it’s not easy, but they’re determined to get through this.”

Brand began dating Laura, who he first met when she was 18, in 2015, and the couple married in 2017.

They have two daughters, Mabel and Peggy, and Laura, who is the sister of TV star Kirsty Gallacher, was recently pregnant with their third child.

She has made no public comment about her husband’s denial video or the allegations against him.

Brand took to his YouTube platform to blast the accusations from his more than six million subscribers.

He insisted that his relationships were always consensual, while he was “promiscuous”.

Now, following the claims, more alleged victims have come forward with more allegations against the star, reports The Times.

The brand has been hit by allegations of controlling, abusive and predatory behavior which have not been investigated – but are said to be now being “rigorously reviewed”.

The BBC and Channel 4 are also facing an issue of alleged failure to act over the comedian’s behavior over the years, which has been said to be an “open secret” within the broadcaster.

A spokesman for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak weighed in on the scandal today, saying: “These are very serious and worrying allegations and the Met has asked anyone who believes they are victims to come forward and speak to officers.”

They added: “I’m not going to prejudge it, but they should show the results of the findings transparently.”

It came after Caroline Nokes, Conservative chair of the House of Commons Women and Equalities Committee, said the allegations were “incredibly shocking and criminal”.

She said: “I really hope complaints are made to the city police and indeed in the United States, because this deserves and needs a criminal investigation, because for too long we have seen men — and the perpetrators of these types of crimes are almost always men — not held accountable for their behavior and actions.”

Meanwhile, John Noel, Brand’s former agent, claimed today that he had never received any complaints about the star – “other than being late”.

The Beeb was last night accused of “enabling” Brand’s alleged behaviour.

One of the alleged victims, who says she was just 16 when Brand “groomed” her, claims a BBC chauffeur would pick her up and take her to the star’s home.

Today, the woman strongly condemned Brando’s denial.

She told the BBC: “I think it’s offensive.

“It’s ridiculous that he would even imply that it’s a mainstream media conspiracy. He’s not outside of the mainstream media.”

The BBC said its current investigation “contains serious allegations, spanning several years”.

It added: “Russell Brand worked on BBC radio programs between 2006 and 2008 and we are urgently investigating the issues raised.”

Sources also told reporters that BBC staff had warned bosses at least three times about Brand’s behavior at work.

Allegations included exposing himself to staff and having sex with guests on his radio shows.

‘VERY SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS’

Channel 4 has now pulled all shows associated with Brando from its website – including episodes of The Great British Bake Off and Big Brother’s Big Mouth that featured him, it has been revealed.

Netflix is now being urged to remove his comedy special Re:Birth from its platform.

It comes after production company Banijay UK, which ran Big Brother spin-off shows under Brando in the early 2000s, launched an investigation after similar allegations of misconduct emerged about his time on Channel 4.

The company said: “In light of the very serious allegations… relating to alleged serious misconduct by Russell Brand in the production of Endomol between 2004 and 2005, Banijay UK has launched an urgent internal investigation.

“We are also asking anyone who feels they have been affected by Brando’s behavior while working on these productions to contact us in confidence.”

The comedian’s dad, Ron Brand (80), came to his son’s defense today.

MailOnline reported that the man, who paid a prostitute to lose the comedian’s virginity, criticized the claims as “unproven”.

It comes after one of the women accusing Brando of raping her opened up about the alleged horror – branding him a “demon”.

REQUIREMENTS

Claims by Brando’s alleged victims range from rape to sexual assault to emotional and physical abuse.

Five women have been accused of sexual assaults that took place between 2006 and 2013 in Britain and America, when Brand was working for BBC Radio 2, Channel 4 and acting in Hollywood films.

One woman claims she was the victim of an assault at Brando’s home in 2013 after they met at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.

Another, Nadia, claimed that the comedian raped her against a wall in his home in Los Angeles.

The third states that when he was only 16 years old, he forced her to perform oral sex until she suffocated and that she had to punch him in the stomach to make him stop.

A fourth woman accused him of sexually assaulting her, as well as emotionally and physically abusing her.

A fifth, Jordan Martin, claims he subjected her to emotional, sexual abuse and forced her to brush her teeth so hard that her gums bled.

The claims sparked a series of allegations against the comedian – some of which have been rumored for years.

In a re-interview, star Dannii Minogue said Brand “wouldn’t take no for an answer” and called him a “vile predator”.

In another reposted clip, the comedian brags about kissing Meghan Markle on the film set.

Hello, you are amazing.

This is not the usual type of video we do on this channel where we criticize, attack and undermine the news in all its depravity because in this story I am the news.

I received two extremely disturbing letters – a letter and an email.

One from a mainstream media TV company, one from a newspaper, lists a litany of extremely outrageous and aggressive attacks as well as some pretty stupid stuff – like my community festival should be stopped, so I shouldn’t be able to attack mainstream media narratives on this channel .

But amid this litany of stunning, rather baroque, attacks are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute. These accusations relate to when I was working in the mainstream – when I was in newspapers all the time, when I was in movies, and as I’ve written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous.

Now, during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual. I was always transparent about that then, almost too transparent. And now I’m transparent about it.

And when I see how that transparency has metastasized into something criminal that I absolutely deny, it makes me wonder if there is some other agenda at play?

Especially when we’ve seen coordinated media attacks before – like with Joe Rogan when he dared to take a drug that the mainstream media didn’t approve of and we’ve seen a series of headlines from outlets around the world using the same language.

I’m aware that you’ve been saying in the comments for a while now ‘Watch out Russell, they’re coming for you, you’ve come too close to the truth, Russell Brand didn’t kill himself’.

I know a year ago there was a flurry of ‘Russell Brand is a conspiracy theorist, the right wing of Russell Brand’ articles.

I am aware that the media are calling, sending letters to people I have known for years.

It was clear to me, or at least it seemed to me, that there was a serious and concerted plan to control these kinds of spaces and these kinds of voices, and I mean my voice along with your voice.

I don’t mind them using my books and my attitude to talk about my promiscuous consensual behavior in the past. What I seriously deny are these very very serious criminal charges.

It’s also worth mentioning that there are witnesses whose evidence directly contradicts the narratives these two mainstream media are trying to construct, clearly in what appears to me to be a coordinated attack

I don’t want to go into this any further because of the serious nature of the allegations, but I feel like I’m under attack and it’s clear they’re working very closely together
