Sophie Turner fans rush to defend her against ‘smear campaign’ rumors amid Joe Jonas divorce

As fans are still shocked by the news that Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are getting divorced, the latest rumors suggest that Jonas is running a “smear campaign” against his estranged wife.

Earlier this week, the Internet was devastated to learn that Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas were getting divorced. The papers obtained by PEOPLE cited “different lifestyles” as the reason for the couple’s split, stating that “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.”

A source told TMZ “She loves to party, he likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles.” The source also said the couple has been having problems for the past six months and that Jonas has been taking care of their two young children “almost all the time.”

However, Turner’s fans are not impressed and theorize that Jonas may be running a “smear campaign” against his ex-wife.

The main reason why fans believe that Jonas is trying to turn public opinion against Turner is due to reports being heard about troubles in the couple’s relationship.

“Everything about the divorce is so one-sided,” one person on Twitter declared, suggesting “his camp” is trying to push a certain narrative.

Others are pointing to a resurfaced clip of Turner from an interview she did in 2020 as evidence that this is the case. In the clip, Turner calls herself an “introvert” and “homebody,” saying “If I could stay home all day I would… anyway I leave the house once a day to take dog walk and that’s it.”

Fans said the clip contradicted accusations of Turner being a “party girl,” with one writing “This seems like a smear campaign against women.”

Another said: “I don’t even like Sophie but it’s obvious he’s deliberately trying to paint her in a negative light. And we know Joe isn’t an angel.”
