His parents were Russian Jewish immigrants who settled in America after fleeing the Bolshevik Revolution. Not much is known about his early life. He married Deirdre Ann Ottewill in 1961. The two were married for more than 60 years. The couple has two children, Christopher Zonis and Jennifer Zonis. Stuart Damon Career

Unlike information about his life, the details of his career are not obscure. He began with a series of long-running roles on Broadway and then went on to sign on as the Prince in the 1965 version of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella starring Lesley Ann Warren. This was the turning point in his television and soap opera career. That same year, he got a very important and prominent role on one of the famous Broadway stages. He made prominent appearances as an actor in a variety of ways, including the cult film Irma La Douce (1960).

Stuart Damon moved to the UK in the 1960s and starred in the hit West End musical Charlie Girl alongside Anna Neagle in 1965. Hee landed the role of American secret agent Craig Stirling. Co-stars in ITC’s The Champions series are British actors Alexandra Bastedo and William Gaunt. In 1968, he appeared in the BBC television adaptation of the £1,000,000 note and played the leading role. The list of his famous personalities does not end. His character of magician Harry Houdini in the lavishly staged London musical Man of Magic is one of the brightest. He played a few more memorable roles and then quickly decided to return to America.

Stuart Damon began to become a household name in America as Dr. Alan Quartermaine Sr. at General Hospital. He also acted as a short-lived spin-off of the show called Port Charles (1997–2003).

Stuart Damon won the 1999 Best Supporting Actor Emmy for Alan. In December 2006, it was reported that Damon was fired from the General Hospital show by Jill Farren Phelps. His last broadcast date was set for February 26, 2007, which was also his 70th birthday. His character was killed off on the show. It’s unclear why he was fired, but his co-stars were disappointed.

Despite his character’s death, he remained on the show to play Alan Quartermaine’s ghost until 23 December 2008.

In September 2009, Damon starred in As the World Turns as Janet and Teri Ciccone’s “Uncle” Ralph Manzo, a businessman most likely involved with the mob. He left the series on 30 October 2009, but returned for three episodes from 23 August 2010 to 25 August 2010. During the period from 19 to 25 March 2010, he also played Governor Jim Ford on Days of Our Lives.
