The crew heads into the Wild West in this episode focusing on an old ghost town. Cerro Gordo is located at an elevation of 8,500 feet in the Inyo Mountains in California. The former mining town has many horror stories, including one of children locked in the trunk of a car and left for dead and another of 30 miners buried alive.

Proof of the paranormal happens when the group drops the tape recorder into the mine to try to capture some restless spirits. As the tape recorder is pulled further down the shaft by an invisible force, the group retrieves the hebbies and decides it’s time to leave.

Ghost Adventures’ Twin Bridge orphanage paranormal investigation is the first of its kind to occur at this haunted site. The children living there have been treated horribly by the staff, with the campus said to be haunted by the hundreds of spirits of the children who died there.

The crew is joined by psychic Deanna Jaxine Stinson and they use the Ovilus, which resembles an electronic Ouija board, to contact any paranormal entities inside the orphanage. The big controversy occurred when special guest Robert Bass claimed his EMF Meter had been thrown out of his hands. This is also the first episode that Zak Bagans believes he is possessed by a spirit. In the episode, it is revealed that Anna Corbin, the head of housekeeping, who was loved by all the employees, was bludgeoned to death in 1950. Eugene Monroe was put on trial three times for this crime before being acquitted. Traveling along part of Route 66 (or Route 666 as they like to call it) through Texas, the crew stopped at three different haunted locations — the De Soto Hotel, the Concordia Cemetery, and the Goatman Bridge.

At Concordia Cemetery, Billy Tolley witnesses some spooky ghosts, while strange noises resound at Goatman Bridge. But it is at the Hotel De Soto, where Satanic rituals are said to take place, that things really get scary. The group catches a ceiling fan flying off the roof towards them on camera when the lights above suddenly come on. It’s really scary stuff and one of the most controversial things to happen on the show.
