There are countless recipes for pasta salad, and every family has one that is conscientiously passed down from generation to generation. But you should try something new.
Anja Auer, a woman from The Grill, shares her recipe for pasta salad, created from her mother’s and grandmother’s secrets.
The question of all questions: With or without mayonnaise?
Anja Auer: Whatever they want, I would say. Fitness enthusiasts or those who watch calories can leave them out. For me, mayonnaise, but as a lid on a pot. It doesn’t have to be a whole bucket of mayonnaise. But slightly creamy taste. And for those who don’t like a kilogram of pasta salad three times, they can eat a little mayonnaise.
The more colorful the better?
“eat your eyes” is my Credo. Pasta salad only looks better if it has green cucumbers, orange carrots, yellow cheese and red peppers.
Is noodle salad a main dish or a side dish?
A question for me for the following reason: at a certain party there is a famous noodle salad on the buffet table. And I experienced it pretty much that the man in front of me was Pasha’s buffet, so much pasta salad on the plate that there was almost nothing left. It seems that pasta salad is so good for fans. And I think that the colorful pasta salad with cucumbers, peas, carrots, ham and cheese certainly has its place as a main dish.
Anja Auer’s creamy pasta salad
portion: 8 preparation time: 45 minutes
ingredients for creamy pasta salad
500 g spirals 1 red pepper pasta 1 yellow pepper 2 medium onions 200 g cooked ham 5 pickles, 200 g Gouda cheese (or Emmental), 500 g peas and carrots (drained weight) 150 ml mayonnaise 200 g sour cream 1 teaspoon medium hot mustard seeds 1 small bunch of chives 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper 2 teaspoons of curry powder 3 teaspoons of paprika powder 50 ml of gurkensud vinegar (alternative: vinegar) 1 tbsp. sugar salt and pepper (to taste)
Creamy pasta salad: preparation
Cook the pasta in plenty of salted water until al dente, drain and cool. Cut the cheese and ham, and the pepper and pickles into small cubes. Peas and carrots from a can and pass through the carrots, also finely chopped. Place mayonnaise, sour cream, mustard, gurkensud vinegar and spices in a bowl and mix with a whisk. Mix all the ingredients gently and leave the pasta salad for at least an hour and finely chopped chives for decoration. (Before garnishing and serving, if necessary, sprinkle with salt, pepper, sugar or vinegar to taste.)
