TikTok users are convinced they are being ‘pranked’ by a food ‘trick’ that Americans seem to have only just caught on to, even though the rest of the world has been using it for the longest time.
At this point, TikTok covers every niche and interest that the Internet has to offer. Never mind how weird it might be, you’ll probably find videos of it on there.
Naturally, food and cooking is one of the most popular genres on TikTok, with users eager for viral recipes, fun tricks to prepare healthy food faster as well. like marveling at some of the most exquisite dishes out there.
However, there are a number of food ‘tricks’ being pulled at the moment that have users believing they are being pranked, as Americans appear to have only recently discovered putting avocado on sandwiches.
TikTok is confused by food ‘hacks’ that everyone knows about
That’s right, it all started in early August when TikToker Amanda Rollins (American) noted that she – an American living in France – was making sandwiches for her and her partner using only butter, ham and cheese.
It quickly developed into a number of complications, with purewow copying the ‘hack’ and racking up over 1.1 million views as a result. That also led to some confusing problems that had users from other parts of the world watching with skepticism as Americans discovered avocados had a beneficial effect on their food.
“The United States is a different world, I STG (swear to God),” one confused viewer commented. “WHAT IS HAPPENING, THIS IS A GAME?” someone else added. “I am completely confused… why Americans have only just discovered the MAIN USES OF BUTTER,” said another.
Naturally, some Americans stepped in to defend themselves, but others were still disappointed when it was labeled a “food hack.”
“America is broken on so many levels, this is the kettle thing again,” another user added, referring to another viral trend where Americans make English-style tea in the microwave.
