Trish’s MAFS colleague and fellow originals expert John Aiken announced her death on Instagram.
“I am heartbroken and saddened that my friend and dear colleague Trisha has passed away,” he wrote alongside photos of himself with Trisha.
“We shared an incredible seven seasons of MAFS together.
“She loved everything about New Zealand, relationships, All Blacks, Black Caps, French wine and traveling the world. I’ll miss you Tish.
“Thank you for all the memories.”
Channel Nine said the network was “deeply saddened” to hear of Trisha’s death.
“Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to her family and loved ones at this difficult time,” the spokesman said.
Trisha’s cause of death is unknown.
The New Zealand-born relationship expert has announced she will be leaving the show in 2020 – and returning to her home country of Sydney.
“After seven seasons of Married At First Sight, I have decided to retire from the television series to focus on writing, research and neuropsychotherapy,” she said at the time.
“The program provides a platform for continued conversation about relationships and I wish the program continued success and hope that future participants find eternal love.”
She was replaced by clinical sexologist Alessandra Rampolla.
Prior to MAFS, Trisha worked for 60 Minutes as a war correspondent in Somalia and Bosnia.
She left behind her daughter Gina and one granddaughter.
